In a shocking incident earlier this week, a 17-year-old boy named Kunal was brutally stabbed to death in Delhi’s Seelampur area. The police have identified a woman known locally as “Lady Don”, whose real name is Ziqra, as one of the main suspects in the case.
According to police sources, the murder was reportedly planned by Ziqra as an act of revenge. Her brother had been attacked recently, and she allegedly wanted to settle the score. “She wanted to take revenge for her brother’s stabbing and had even formed her own gang. She was recently released from jail in another case,” police officials told news agency PTI.
Who is ‘Lady Don’ Ziqra?
Ziqra, a resident of Seelampur, had previously been arrested under the Arms Act and was released from jail just 15 days before the murder. She is said to be notorious in the area for openly carrying a firearm and had a reputation for threatening people.
After her release, she was reportedly searching for a man named “Lala”, who had allegedly beaten her brother. When Kunal did not help her locate Lala, she and her brother Sahil allegedly attacked him.
Details of the Incident
On Thursday, Kunal had stepped out around 7 p.m. to buy food when he was stabbed in the J Block of Seelampur. He was rushed to Jai Prakash Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The tragic murder has triggered widespread protests in Seelampur. Locals gathered on the streets with placards reading, “Modiji madad karo, Yogi model chahiye” (Modiji, please help us. We want the Yogi model), demanding swift justice and stronger law enforcement.
Reactions from Police and Authorities
Delhi Police have registered a case at the Seelampur police station and formed multiple teams to catch the accused. Security has also been increased in the area due to public anger and ongoing protests.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the incident, saying, “I have spoken to the Police Commissioner about the murder. The accused will be caught soon. The police have registered an FIR and are actively investigating.”
However, Kunal’s family has expressed deep disappointment with the authorities. His mother accused the police of failing to act in time and even claimed that medical staff treating her son were harassed.
She recounted the painful moments before her son’s death: “My son had asked for a samosa and milk. He went out to get them, and within 15 minutes, we were told he had been stabbed. Just a few days ago, he was threatened, and we had even taken him to the hospital. We hadn’t eaten for two days. Now my son is gone.”
